Focus on the Future
It's hard not to dwell on current news headlines but at Plan-b we're trying to focus on the future - it’s green and focused on your needs.
We’re pleased to announce that we were selected as finalists in the recent IBM Business Partner Awards for both of the categories we entered. Our backup solution for BMW New Zealand then won the overall award for Green & Beyond! We showed how we could assist them to reduce the environmental impact of their backup regime while meeting their business requirements.
We are also continuing to invest in our business and will shortly be asking for some feedback on your relationship with Plan-b through a customer survey. Please do respond to the survey to make sure we are prioritising programmes to best suit your future needs.

Farmside & Ryman Healthcare - Business as Usual
After the September 2010 Christchurch earthquake two of our customers confirmed the value of their investment in access to Plan-b’s OfficeNOW facilities.
Farmside’s local staff tried working from home, but that didn’t work out as expected. Activating their access to Plan-b’s office facilities provided them with everything they needed to keep business running smoothly.
Ryman Healthcare also found their premises inaccessible. Rather than try and work from one of their retirement villages, they relocated their entire head office team to Plan-b’s facility and continued working seamlessly.

February Christchurch Response
As you would expect, Plan-b committed significant resources at the time of last month’s Christchurch earthquake to assist our customers with their recovery. Our existing facility was checked and opened within a few days. In addition, we quickly implemented our emergency plan to deliver additional seats and staff to the Christchurch region.

The recent Christchurch earthquake highlighted a number of areas that can cause issues with recovering your data in an crisis situation.
The most common were:
- You can’t guarantee access to your backup data if it is not stored offsite.
- Up to date server details are critical to timely and accurate server recovery.
- Not following correct backup practices can cause a failure in server recovery at the worst possible time.
The risk in not adhering to these principles, and Plan-b Backup Practice in general, is loss of functionality and often a loss of business. Is it worth the risk?
